After a year of soul-searching, sacrifice, and sweat (not to mention song rewrites and re-recordings) Soraia's new CD, Shed the Skin is finally on the scene. Can you dig it? Their new record captures the raw energy and spirit of the late 60's/early 70's. Think Cream, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin - add in a neo-taste and you got it. The band, along with producer/engineer Obie O'Brien, recorded in studios on both the East and West Coasts in search of vintage gear and instruments to recreate a very 60's approach to recording but adding their own contemporary edge. Shed the Skin captures a time often revisited by today's culture and Soraia looked to the past for a musical guiding hand: the result is a uniquely fantastic trip into an exciting electric period in rock music.
